Full steam ahead.
With the intention to take some pictures on the Reno progress, I was not expecting workers to be there today.
However, they were there fixing the lightings (on a Sunday)... A very pleasant surprise indeed.
It seems like the reno is well on schedule... :)
Nxt wk, kitchen cabinets... juz can't wait to see the end product.

Exercise Reno - 28th Aug 2006, 11am
My ID was giving instructions to the workers on wat to do for the reno. I took the hammer that was lying on the floor and sneaked behind him...
Lifted the hammer and gently knocked the floor tiles... tis marked the 'Dong Tu' or start of reno...
Boy! Tis is more tiring than I had imagined... enjoy the pics.

No more scared of rainy season and bird-lime leow...
Went down to Singapore Post Centre (Paya Lebar) for an exhibition to book the dryer (opted for the standing rack) from Citygas. Offered price is significantly lower than the one quoted to me the previous week @ HQ... (price valid for the show only) ... Hengzzz ahhh... managed to catch the boat ... :)
We would like to thank Ms. Abrie from Citygas for updating us this gd lobang. Thank you.

Shopping, shopping, shopping !!!
We hav been travelling and looking ard for furniture these 2-3 weeks,
From Cellini @ Loyang to OM @ Liang Court to other Showrooms @ Sungei Kadut, Defu lane, ...the list goes on ...
We kinda like the Bianca Sofa Set @ Cellini, but can't really decide on the colour...
my thots - Was wondering ... if we can convert these distances to air-millege, we may hav clocked enuff for a trip to
......
19th August 2006 - tink my wife is already snoring in our cozy bed as I'm writing this :)
Lotsa stuff we committed today... i visualise a scene of $$$ depleting in my savings acct ... gulp ...
First Stop... Citygas
We went to Citygas to recce their dryer in the late morning...
Here's the gd news ...
1. Claimed drying time is shorter than electric dryer ... thus lesser running cost???
2. Looks nice & simple to operate to do the job rite
3. They have a rack to mount the dryer ... suitable for the miserable space @ our CORIS svc balcony... (best news I heard)
The not so gd news...
1. Promo ended in July ... now price went up to $8xx.(w/gst) .... arrgggghhhhhh!!!!! :'(
We decided to put the purchase on hold and continue looking @ other brands...
2nd Stop... Sofa Set
Finally we made up our minds to purchase the Bianca Sofa from Cellini today. So brought our ID to help us select the colour.
(sigh~ long trip to
Next Stop... Curtains/Blinds
We also got our ID to bring us to select curtains & blinds, after looking @ countless catalogues and sample, my wife finally got what she want... but did exceed my budget (she call the shots :S) ....
my thots - looks like gotta eat more bread for meals from now on leow :P
Last Stop for the day ... Lightings
By this time, my wife was complaining abt the trip, how tired she was (she slept most of the way) & hunger... Luckily, we are able to make this a fast one with the help of our ID ... total procurement (a total of 23 downlights & a couple of normal ceiling lights for toilet, storeroom, ...etc.)
They gimme with a F.O.C. door-bell - nothing fanciful here... normal ding dong dong dong onli - i did play wif it... quite funz... my wife was giving mi the kinda look.

Castle in Singapore
juz to clarify.. the castle on the title is not really a real castle... but rather it's a building made of bricks and cement... and i'm in a small unit within it... mayb i shld rename as Our BOX?
so in short... a dot within a dot.
Window... hmm... TV Shopping
beri tough choice... all look sooooo nicceeeeee and clear ...
maybe i'll toss a coin ...
...................
The other problem is the service balcony... how to arrange the washer and dryer?? maybe should stack...
if i use different brands... stacking will look weird... like putting brick on top of lego... arggghhhh... major headache... how? how?? how??? should hav played wif Lego more when i was young...

Shopping for appliances. (Part 1)
Got ourselves a Toshiba Inverter Sys-4 Aircon from Allbest.
At 34000 BTU, this should be sufficient to cool the castle. (huge damage to pocket)
12/8/2006 - Visited Bellari and Chuan Heng Hardware.
Was very impressed with the demo at Bellari, liked the tornado burner and suction power of the hood.
The sales rep demonstrated the power, ability to suck up a chopping board, NO JOKE!!!
(maybe nxt time when mi kids are naughty... suck them there.... :P)
We wanted beri much the gourmet burner & La Spezia Hood.
But price was the major obstacle for us... :(
We shopped around, and being the typical "down to earth" couple (or rather constrained by budget), we eventually bought the following items from Chuan Heng (a more affordable deal) :)
- Ellane Hob and Hood
- Ariston Storage Heater
- Franke Sink and Mixer
(another major investment, getting poor liao)
Next up, furniture ...
Sourcing for ID ... (15th July 2006 - 30th July 2006)
After filtering, we decided to use Designscale 1:3.
Based on the Dong Tu date given by the FS master, we will start reno on the 28/8/2006
Next on our agenda, more meetings with the ID for design concept, FS master with FS location planning and start shopping for our castle :P
Collection of keys... Yippie
My wife was shocked when they handed us those huge bunches of keys... she thot it's 3 or 4 keys only. LOLxx
After the collection, the first thing we did was to engage a FS master to help us with the opening door procedure and survey our home.
